Dr. Stephen B. Freeman is an accomplished head and neck
and plastic and reconstructive surgeon. His expertise includes
treating patients with extensive cancers of the skull
base, oral
cavity and throat, using the latest techniques in
reconstruction and voice restoration. By utilization microvascular
transfer
and mandibular reconstruction, he is able to achieve better
restoration of function of the oral cavity. He is also skilled in facial
and cosmetic surgery such as facelift, rhinoplasty, otoplasty, scar revision,
and laser surgery. Sinus surgery,
allergy and asthma is a particular interest to Dr.
Freeman. He is board dcertified in allergy by the American Academy of
Otolaryngic Allergy. Endoscopic techniques have provided him tremendous
success in the relief of suffering from headaches and infections. He and Dr.
Blom have developed a frontal sinus stent to
prevent scar tissue from blocking the frontal sinus available from Inhealth
Technologies. He is program director for the head & neck surgery and
microvascular surgery
fellowship program.
Originally a Hoosier, he
received his medical degree from Indiana University after
graduating from Purdue University. During his 10 years in the
U.S. Navy, he completed his residency in Otolaryngology in
Oakland, California, and his Head & Neck Surgery fellowship
at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis. He has been a faculty member
at Eastern Virginia School of Medicine in Norfolk, Virginia and
University of Tennessee in Memphis and clinical faculty at
Uniform Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda,
Maryland. He has lectured extensively, written several
publications and trained many residents. Dr. Freeman is triple board
certified in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery,
Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and American Academy of Otolaryngic
Allergy. He is a member of the
Marion County and Indiana State Medical Societies, and a Fellow
member of the American College of Surgeons, American
Academy of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery, American Society for Head and
Neck Surgery,
American
Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and American Academy of
Otolaryngic Allergy.
