Mandible Reconstruction
Purpose: To replace
missing jaw bone lost from trauma or cancer resection

The loss of a complete segment of bone from the jaw leads to
significant deformity and difficulty swallowing. Various
synthetic materials and bone grafts without a blood supply have
been used with varying degrees of success. During the past
several years we have developed a team of surgeons and dentists
who rebuild the jaw, using microvasular techniques, with
vascularized bone from the leg, pelvis, or shoulder blade,
providing reliable re-establishment of the jaw's contour and
restoration of appearance and oral cavity function.
